imageTo God be the glory!  After 10 years in the making, Beulah Gospel Tabernacle has broken ground.  On Saturday, February 4, 2006, in the City of Bayonne, State of New Jersey, a groundbreaking ceremony commenced marking the beginning of our building project.  Beulah will build 24 condominiums in Bayonne.  The proceeds from the sale of the condos will be used for our new church edifice.

This has been a long and difficult journey for Beulah.  It all started approximately 10 years ago when Beulah bought three properties in downtown Bayonne with the intentions of building our new church.  The properties were gutted out and we went through the process to obtain a loan for the building of our new church.  However, because the buildings were already gutted, securing a loan was virtually impossible.  Not to mention our yearly income fell below the requirements of the Bank.  Since the properties were not being used for religious purposes, we were hit extremely hard with property taxes. Because Beulah is “taking the City of Bayonne for the Lord,” we persevered and planned to build an adult medical daycare facility to provide medical care, food and activities for the seniors of Bayonne.  In 2003, we were approved to receive a grant to assist us in this endeavor.  However, the already existing adult medical daycare facilities were struggling; and therefore, we were advised that this was not the route to pursue.  Once again facing another disappointment.

With the Seller of the properties downtown agreeing to hold the mortgage and subsequently rewriting the mortgage, we were able to maintain an increase in our yearly income.  Therefore, we went before the Zoning Board of Adjustment to obtain approval to build a church on the properties purchased in downtown Bayonne.  However, another Pastor beat us to the Zoning Board and obtained approval to build his church right next door to our properties.  Needless to say Beulah was heartbroken and hit yet again with another disappointment.

Still planning to take the City of Bayonne for the Lord and realizing the need for housing, we decided to build condominiums.  We needed to go before the Zoning Board of Adjustment to obtain approval and permits to begin construction of the condos.  Several times our petition was postponed.  When we were finally heard by the Zoning Board, we were met with much opposition.  But thank God for our constant prayer and tenacity to see this project come to fruition.  We never gave up and we put it in the hands of God.  We knew God did not bring us this far only to leave us.  Thus, our petition was GRANTED!  The groundbreaking ceremony for the building of 24 condominiums is just one example of the power of God.  If you would just learn how to lean and depend on God, he will fight your battles.  Is anything too hard for God?  NO, THERE ISN’T!
